GREEN WEEK 2013 Satellite events in Central Europe

In the framework of the green week a series of events are also organized at local level focusing on the air quality theme of this edition. You can find here listed in the following the main events taking place in Central Europe cooperation area.

16 May 2013 Ostrava - Comenius Park (Czech Republic). Outdoor event "Day of Air"

Day of Air is a traditional event (already held in 2011 and 2012) which is trying to draw attention to the issue of air pollution in Moravskoslezsky region and also motivate public to actively participate in solving the problem. This year´s event will focus on the importance of the fresh air and the importance of it for the young generation (activities aimed at kids - jumping castle, painting on face masks, educational and informational activities, and health effects of air pollution). A music programme will be held at the event, as well as OxyBox – a place where people can breathe fresh air.

16 May 2013 – Turin (Italy) Fiat Industrial Village "Imagin'Air Workshop"

A special focus on how smart city solutions can improve air quality: fleets renewal, regional air quality plans, innovative technologies, and R&D projects. During the workshop university students and the general public will have several opportunities to interact with the local officials, as well as to meet and network during lunch in presence of the Fiat Industrial Management and employees. Fiat Industrial "green" vehicles test drives are also included.

25 May 2013, Kysucky Lieskovec (Slovakia). Open door day "Air Quality - a day without car"

The aim of the Energy Day will be the short bicycle trip into the nature. Part of the action will be the presentation about air quality for children. This Energy Day will introduce the importance of air quality.

6 June 2013, Lodz (Poland). Seminar open to the public "Comprehensive approach to renewable energy – an economic stimulus for regional development. The air, water and soil quality"

Lodzkie Region is one of the largest emitters of CO2 in the energy sector in Poland, significantly influencing the air quality. However, a consistent investment in environmental friendly technologies together with a great regional potential for the development of sustainable energy, result in constant improvement of this situation. The seminar is dedicated to the discussion on how to reduce pressure on the environment in a global context through the implementation and financing of selected investments aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution through the use of renewable energy sources.

3-7 June 2013, Brussels (Parlamentarium). Exhibition "Delivering  the Green Economy Poland's ambitious woody biomass plantation"

An exhibition of living hybrid poplar trees (at different stages of growth in the cultivation cycle from initial plantings to full-grown trees ready for harvest) and large-size explanatory panels and projections. This will visualize a modern woody biomass plantation and portray the renewable success story of the plantation in the Pomerania region in Poland, set to become the largest of its kind in Europe.
